A, folks! So I had a wee stay at this youth hostel in Glasgow, and let me tell ya, it was a belter! First off, the location is pure dead brilliant—smack bang in the middle o’ town, so you’re close to everything. Just a stone’s throw from all the pubs and sights, which is a bonus if you’re looking to hit the town after a day oot exploring. The hostel itself? It’s no posh hotel, but it’s dead tidy and has a real friendly vibe. The staff are proper sound, always up for a blether and ready to help ya out with directions or a good local tip. The dorms are decent, not too compact, and the beds are fairly comfy—no snoring from the laddies next to ya, thank goodness! Plus, they’ve got a shared kitchen that’s tidy enough to whip up a quick meal after a long day, or you can just throw together a bowl of cereal if ye cannae be bothered! And let’s talk about the common area. It’s a belter, great for meeting fellow travellers, swapping stories, or just chilling with a cuppa and some tunes. You’ll find folks from all over, and that’s where the magic happens—making new pals and sharing a laugh. Overall, if ye’re looking for a braw place to stay while exploring the sights of Glasgow without breakin' the bank, this hostel is definitely worth a shout. Just keep the banter flowing, and you’ll have a cracking time! Aye, that’s the ticket! Cheers!

1. It’s not very convenient cuz they don’t have lift and while you already carried so much stuff by yourself but still need to carry all the sheets 2. The shower place is too small, the toilet always smells stinky 3. They don’t give you a little info, so you have to find out everything by yourself

Spend the extra few pounds somewhere else if you can afford it - the building (outside) is beautiful and the location is pretty good too but overall, this isn’t worth it. I’ve stayed in budget hostels all over Europe but this is the first time I’ve ever felt the need to leave a negative review - it’s completely against my nature to complain. I was only in Glasgow for the night and so it wasn’t worth the hassle but if it had been any longer, I probably would’ve left this hostel and found somewhere else to stay. The person on reception was really unwelcoming and replied ‘well I suppose you can’ in a very dismissive tone when I asked to check in because they (by their own admission) were rushing to make key cards before a large group arrival. They seemed really annoyed that I’d interrupted this but I’d have been more than happy to wait if they’d just asked. I’ve worked in hospitality for years and would’ve completely understood! Instead I was made to feel like an inconvenience which was super off-putting as a paying guest. The standard of the 8 bed female dorm was one of the worst I’ve seen. When I walked into the room after the experience at reception, the first thing I noticed were numerous large stains on the carpet (unclear if they’re food or vomit). There were no plugs beside the beds and just one socket beside the main door which barely reached beds 1 & 2, never mind the rest of them. The beds don’t have individual lights or privacy curtains either (curtains obviously aren’t to be expected everywhere but enough plugs for each guest feels like the bare minimum tbh). Finally, the toilet door had so many holes in it that it looked like a prop from The Shining and the hot water from the taps didn’t work to wash your hands. One of the most uncomfortable stays I’ve ever had. If you’re in Glasgow, save yourself the trouble and book an AirBnB or hotel instead!

Best night sleep ever. So quiet but so close to city. Free parking outside on weekends. Overlooking Kelvingrove Park and 10 minutes walk to Glasgow University. Friendly staff goes without saying: it's in Glasgow!

Great location, beautiful old building, great room, great facilities. On a hillside above Kelvingrove Park in a converted period mansion. My sixth stay here, I'll be back again sometime.

Just wasn’t impressed with the lack of plug sockets which seemed to be a running theme for many guests walking the halls, struggling to find a free or any plug socket in the common areas. It’s a bit ridiculous to have 8 people to a dorm but only a strip plug socket for 3 people to share. It makes me feel unsafe that I can’t find a suitable place to charge my phone. The mattress was uncomfortable (spring) and is due for a change. Otherwise, I appreciate the friendliness of the staff and the amount of common areas to get some down time. I don’t mind the location, but may be far for some. It’s otherwise in a peaceful setting.

Rooms did not have power by the beds meaning no charging devices overnight - unless you leave them on the floor in the room. Bathroom was alright but had puddles of dirty water on the floor from a leak somewhere. Had to walk down 3 flights of stairs for water due to not being able to drink the water in the rooms. But the beds were the most comfy I’ve ever slept in in a hostel. Nice location.

Great place to stay. Perfect situated on top of a hill by a park, so it is a quite place. Public spaces are comfortable furnitured like living rooms. Old houses though but lovely atmosphere, old days glamour. Missed only a reading lamp & power plug at the bed.

I stayed here for three nights in June. I liked that it's a bit further out from the city centre, which meant it was quieter - and there's a lovely big park next door to walk in and several subway stations within walking distance. The staff were friendly and facilities were clean. My dorm room was on the third floor so I became well acquainted with ALL those stairs - but I liked that the creaky stairs and different rooms gave the building character. Plus it was very affordable! I'd love to stay here again!

after a long day it is not the best thing to climb at least 60 stairs just to get to the entrance of the hostel, but then to go sleep in a really quiet room is relaxing. easy to find, 24/7 store is in 10 minutes walk available.

Very well located hostel in a beautiful big building in the West End. We had a family room which was great for 2 adults and 2 kids. We could have done with more than one chair and plug socket, and the WiFi was slow. The social areas were great though. Really lovely hostel.
